Redding, Connecticut. Completed in 2011.

A previous client requested that P H Architects design a greenhouse for their Redding Estate. The greenhouse would be situated to the south of their main house near the expansive gardens for these avid gardeners. The scope also included a patio adjacent to their gardens and the Aspetuck River and walking trails from the greenhouse to the river.

This fully-functioning greenhouse functions to store plants in the winter and to start vegetable seedlings in the early spring. Although modest in size, this project was complex and challenging. The picturesque site demanded an appropriate response in the design of the structure. The scale and volume, as well as the materials and color, were important to this discerning client. Upon completion of the project, this greenhouse and patio were a thoughtful addition to the function and natural beauty of this spectacular property.

The most satisfying part of this project was not only the unique building type, but also the client’s complete satisfaction.
