Blueberry Enclosure

Newtown, Connecticut. Completed in 2016.

P H Architects had the opportunity to design and build a unique blueberry bush enclosure. The client’s intention was to grow their own food to reap greater health benefits. Peeled cedar logs were utilized as housing and doors for easy access to the blueberry enclosure. Bird netting wrapped around the cedar logs provides full sun exposure for the organic blueberries. It also offers security and protective enclosure from the surrounding wildlife.

Within the blueberry enclosure are raised cedar beds that deliver optimum soil conditions. Metal edging surrounds the enclosure to keep the pea gravel in place for a cleaner aesthetic view. In addition, we installed a hose bib and yard hydrant for easier blueberry shrub maintenance.
