Park East

Salt Lake City, Utah. Completed in 2017

The developer of a unique 70-unit apartment complex was looking for a distinctive vernacular for Utah’s vibrant location within the shadows of Mount Olympus and selected P H Architects to design the buildings. The development features one and two-bedroom apartments in the heart of the city of Holladay, a premiere neighborhood in Salt Lake City.

Park East is located on a 2.8-acre site, adjacent to Creekside Park, Big Cottonwood Regional Park and the Lions Holladay Fitness and Recreation Center. Residents of the development enjoy the benefits of 100 acres of open parkland with jogging paths, along with access to the amenities of the recreation center.

As a result of the scope for this project, we overcame many regulatory hurdles. We limited the building heights to four stories to better respond to the surrounding open spaces. The design was inspired by historic brick row houses and carries the flair into every floor plan. The brick exterior is accented with copper roofs. The entrances to these units contain large contemporary glass doors and security protection.

The interior continues with the design scheme implementing exposed brick walls throughout the apartments. Each unit is different and contains the rich texture of Cushwa bricks sourced from New England. The open floor plans have wood style plank flooring throughout and an oversized kitchen with quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances.
