The client approached P H Architects after purchasing a property with a small cabin overlooking a lake in Kent, NY. They wanted to totally gut the existing cabin and expand on the shell to create an Adirondack cabin retreat.
This 2,800 sq.ft. cabin was demolished down to the main structure and completely rebuilt. The garage became the kitchen and a large deck was added to take advantage of the breathtaking views. The existing steel windows were stripped down, reglazed and reused. New doors and windows were designed to relate to the existing windows. We folded in Adirondack elements at every opportunity from the custom cut shutters and deck railings to the rustic split log siding.
This Adirondack cabin was a success for the client and together with their interior appointments is a fun retreat that is well suited to its setting.
